PD doors, also known as pocket doors or folding sliding doors, are specifically designed for compact spaces such as small bathrooms. They provide the perfect solution to the problems posed by inward-opening doors, which take up internal space, and outward-opening doors, which obstruct corridor traffic flow. Their key feature is that when opened, the door panel slides parallel into a ‘pocket’ within an adjacent wall (such as the wall on the dry side), effectively concealing it at nearly 180 degrees. This maximises space efficiency, leaving the doorway fully open for easy passage and the movement of items. The tracks are typically recessed, resulting in a clean, uncluttered appearance. When selecting this type of door, it is important to check whether the wall is a lightweight partition suitable for modification and to ensure the quality of the hardware.
